For some people, the era of digital marketing started in 1971 when Ray Tomlinson sent the first email (to himself, because nobody else was on email back then!). But it wasn’t until the 1990s that the term ‘Digital Marketing’ was first popularised.
In 1999, the first blogging sites became popular, creating a social media sensation that’s still popular today. Nowadays, anyone with internet access, smart phone, laptop, or proximity to a cyber cafe can promote themselves or their business
Whilst it’s true that social media can help every type of business – from the single individual to small, medium and large enterprises – it’s also true that many ‘groups’ are acting as a real estate agency or portal for anyone looking to buy and sell their property. It’s a dangerous and serious concern for security and privacy issues. Any individual and their data can be exploited and exposed this way, and it often attracts illegal properties and misrepresentation. Not only that, it leaves the client without protection under the Sales of Goods Act.
At Inland Andalucía, we have come across cases where the social media ‘agents’ are not even living in the country they’re buying and selling property in. We’ve also heard of dangerous cases where clients agree to meet with a stranger off social media at a property – an extremely high-risk situation. By using a legal estate agent – one in the ‘real world’ – this situation is stress free and safe.
As real estate agents, we appreciate that we’re handling people’s hard- earned money and life savings – and your money is always safe with a well-established real estate, but can it be the same if, you as an individual expose yourself in one of those social media groups acting as portals or real estate agencies? As a trusted and well-established company, we enjoy engaging with clients through our social media platforms. Indeed, all businesses need a social media presence. But behind our pages are real professionals working to a strict code of conduct. Inland Andalucía has 18 years of service and reputation – we care about your security and privacy.
If you do decide to engage within a social media group which is not verified as a legitimate business, then we recommend that you research thoroughly – ensure you read and check the group security policy and make sure that your information is safe.
But better still, if you’re buying or selling a property in inland Spain, do so with a legitimate business- one with experience and a good reputation.
